Most players are wise enough to go easy on the owner in a one on one game (there are a handful of owners who like to play and are physically capable of doing so without a subsequent trip to the hospital). MJ is the only owner who is both pathologically competitive and (still) very skilled. I don"t think there"s a player on that roster crazy enough to really take it at him 100%. Kobe would have, KG would have. Basically, only players who were also prone to assaulting their teammates over poor performance would do so.

In two separate interviews Lavar Ball said this:

If he played me 1-on-1 he"d cry.

Back in my heyday, I would kill Michael Jordan 1-on-1.

If someone talks that kind of nonsense it"s hard to ignore. Hell I think MJ didn"t go far enough. He could have said something like:

"Not only could he not beat me if I was one-legged, he"s obviously an insecure guy who feels like he has to overcompensate for his own lack of athletic success by making ridiculous claims, using controversy for cheap publicity, living out his own failed dreams through his children, and trying to create a brand on the back of their success rather than any of his own. Unlike me. You can see my image on millions of items of clothing around the world. But I understand why he talks big. If you"ve never really accomplished anything yourself, it"s the only thing you can do."
