如何改變命運？

網友：請問法師，人應該相信命運嗎？堅持理想就會實現嗎？

學誠法師：命運是存在的，如是因感如是果；命運也是能改變的，改變因就能改變果。但要改變命運，需要正確地認識和運用因果法則，若錯種了豆的種子，無論怎麼堅持也是不能長出瓜來的。

Q:Master, should we believe in destiny? With perseverance, will our dreams come true?

A:Destiny does exist; certain karmic causes result in certain karmic effects, but destiny can also be changed if we can change the karmic cause. To change one』s destiny, however, one must understand and apply the karmic law correctly. As a man sow, so he shall reap.

網友：請教大和尚，我想通過改名來改變命運，那改名能不能改變命運呢？弟子感恩合十。

學誠法師：改「業」才能改變命運。

Q:Master, I wanted to change my destiny by changing my name. Will it work? Thank you.

A:Destiny can only be changed through a change of karma.

網友：再有幾多自信，在命運的定數前又是何等的脆弱！

學誠法師：命運由業決定，業由自己決定。

Q:Master, however confident we are, we are still vulnerable to destiny.

A:One s destiny is determined by karma, and one s karma is controlled by oneself.

網友：法師，命運到底是什麼？有時候我不信，因為我覺得事在人為，但是經歷了這麼多，我突然覺得也許真的命運已經註定，人應該怎麼面對命運？

學誠法師：思想決定行動，行動決定命運。內在的思想和外在的行為不變，命運就註定不可改變；反之則可改變命運。

Q:Venerable Master, What exactly is destiny? Sometimes I don t believe it as I think where there is a will, there is a way. Yet having experienced much in life, I suddenly feel that maybe one s destiny is truly pre-determined. If this is the case, how do we face our destiny?

A:Thoughts determine one s actions, and actions determine one s destiny. Without changing our inner thoughts and outer behaviors, we won t be able to change our destiny. Conversely, we will.

網友：法師，怎麼看待算命、八字呢？在佛教看來，這是不上道的吧？就是更接近惡道，是下三道的，所以應該遠離對嗎？

學誠法師：佛教不否定算命，但若只能算命不能改命，則毫無意義。依照佛法去行持，可以改造命運，這才是值得努力的方向。

Q:Master, what is your opinion of fortune-telling and horoscopes? Buddhism does not hold these things to be creditable, does it? They are more like things leading to the three lower realms and what we should avoid, right?

A:Buddhism is not against fortune-telling. However, fortune-telling is meaningless if it tells but does not change one s destiny. Through practicing the Buddha s teachings, one can change one s destiny. Thus, practicing Buddhism is where we need to concentrate our efforts.
